If you are unsure of your rights, we will explain them to you, ensuring that you understand your position completely. Our priority is protecting your interests.
In the event of a relationship breakdown, you may need help to reach a happy resolution to circumstances that are often complicated. You may be seeking to dissolve the marriage and file for divorce. We can help you achieve a fair division of assets, including the matrimonial home.
If children under the age of 18 are involved, the court must be satisfied that adequate arrangements have been made to secure their welfare.
We emphasise negotiation to try to reach agreement rather than conflict in the application of family law.
One of our specialists will be personally responsible for your individual case from the initial meeting right through to the final outcome. We will help you through the process sensitively, discreetly and thoroughly based on constant negotiation between ourselves and the involved parties.
In some matrimonial or child cases clients are entitled to financial assistance with legal costs, depending on your personal situation and provided that you meet certain conditions.
We have been awarded a family legal aid contract which enables us to provide clients with representation under the legal aid scheme.
For private paying divorce clients we are flexible enough to assist you with either a fixed fee package or a 'Pay as you go' non fixed fee arrangement. To qualify for our fixed fee package we insist that a minimum of 50% of the costs are paid in advance with a payment plan set up for the remaining balance. The full costs of Court fees however must be paid in advance in full.
With this arrangement you will know at the outset how much you are going to pay and can therefore budget accordingly. For more information please contact one of our Family Team.
We also have Solicitors who have been admitted to the Family Panel of the Law Society. Acceptance on to this panel is only possible to Solicitors with adequate training and experience in this field. This means you are assured of the highest standards of care and expertise should you require our assistance.
We now have Jo Khan heading our care department. She is an experienced solicitor who has worked in the local area for a number of years. If you receive any contact from the local authority in relation to any concerns about your children/family she will provide you with appropriate advise and representation which in the majority of cases will be free of charge under the Legal Aid scheme.
